In-school ABA therapy

Some insurance plans allow Butterfly Effects to provide ABA therapy in schools.
This support helps children adjust to the classroom environment, follow daily
routines, and build important academic and social skills. We work closely with
teachers to support your child’s success, with the ultimate goal of helping them
independently navigate the classroom setting and fully engage
with their curriculum.

Supporting student success through school integration

Classroom-based ABA therapy offers supported opportunities for the child to participate in the classroom schedule and instruction along with their same-age peers. ABA therapy in the school setting focuses on fitting into the routines of the classroom to best support the success of the child in collaboration with classroom instructors.

ABA treatment in this environment focuses on the necessary skills for the student to successfully navigate learning new material, interacting with their classmates, waiting, and attending for periods of time among other student learner needs in a school environment.

Many schools permit the child’s ABA treatment to work in schools and consult with teachers. This collaboration allows schools and the ABA treatment team to coordinate treatment and work on the same goals. However, some schools and health-providers may restrict school access to ABA providers.

ABA treatment across the age span

Autism rates have increased significantly over the last 10 years. The best outcome research on autism treatment suggests the younger a child receives ABA treatment the better the outcome. Butterfly Effects services children across the age span in-school to adolescence. Our staff individualizes treatment plans to address the learning needs of the child.

For young children (ages 1 to 8), ABA treatment typically focuses on developing essential skills like functional communication, social interaction, following directions, and adaptive behavior. For adolescents, the treatment often shifts to a more focused model, addressing challenging behaviors, promoting socially acceptable alternatives, and building adaptive living and social skills.

Building independence with daily living skills

Butterfly Effects’ daily living skills program teaches those on the spectrum how to achieve the greatest independence possible for their current age and skill level. Activities of daily living range from getting dressed in the morning, to personal hygiene, safety, and health.

As children on the spectrum advance into adulthood, our programs prepare them for greater independence throughout life. This includes teaching them how to care for their home, acquire job skills, manage their personal finances, and play an active role in the community.
